was one of the most well known Swedish jazz musicians. In his life he played together with almost all the top names in jazz and show business such as Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Charlie Barnet, Chalie Mingus and Harry James.
During the years Rolf lived in Germany, he had the opportunity to work as a studio musician and soloist with the Sender Freies Big Band, Rolf Kuhn, NDR, The Kenny Clarke- Francy Boland Big Band, and many other German and American big bands, including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Mercer Ellington and The Glenn Miller Orchestra, when they were over on tour in Europe.
On many occasions Rolf travelled to the Netherlands for record programmes at different radio stations, and he was in Hilversum three times with The Metropole Orchestra. The music on this CD is taken from tapes selected from this occasions.
Rolf plays wonderful flugelhorn and trumpet on this tunes, which are well known American evergreens. The recordings were made between 1980 and 1989 together with The Metropole Orchestra conducted by Dolf van der Linden and Rob Pronk. The beautiful arrangements are by Rob Pronk, Jerry van Rooijen, Bora Rokovic, Rik Elings and Lex Jasper.
